How to build 137 apartments in 10 new housing buildings on a former park near Bordeaux, including beautiful old trees? Our project considers different composition principles to preserve the subsoil and large existing trees as much as possible: semi-buried levels to reduce parking depth, block-based layout instead of continuous buildinds to encourage green continuity, occasional circumventions of canopies and root systems through the curvature of the facade, and a proposal for a 5-storey reversible parking-building, drastically reducing underground parking.
The expression of the project draws on the vernacular architecture of Guyenne and Gascony and the local climate to develop a double-façade principle in stone and concrete, housing loggias that provide protection from bad weather and sun.
